The EU-LAC Memorandum of Understanding is a landmark agreement between the EU on the one hand and three intergovernmental organisations (CDEMA, CEPREDENAC, SG CAN) across Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as three individual country states (Chile, Cuba, Mexico) on the other.
It aims to facilitate enhanced cooperation between the two regions on disaster risk management, including strengthened policy dialogue, exchange of experiences and good practices, knowledge sharing and coordination on joint initiatives and activities. It was formally signed on 15 May 2024 and implementation has been fully underway since then, marked by a number of key regional events, technical trainings, high-level policy dialogues and advancements on disaster risk management initiatives.
