Blair Brimmell is a Canadian diplomat with over a decade of international relations and policy analysis experience, specializing in security and, more recently, the nexus between climate change and security. She currently serves at the Canadian Joint Delegation to NATO, holding the lead on climate change and security policy.
From 2021-2023, Ms. Brimmell was Interim Director of the Climate Change and Security Centre of Excellence (CCASCOE), and spearheaded the establishment of this institution in Montreal, Canada. Previous roles at Global Affairs Canada, included Senior Analyst for Climate Change and Security, and Senior Policy Analyst in Security and Defence Relations, contributing to Canada's role within NATO.
Ms. Brimmell has also held roles at Canada’s foreign ministry overseeing Canada's relations with Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Bangladesh. She began her career in the Canadian federal government with assignments at the Public Health Agency of Canada, Veterans Affairs Canada, and Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada. She is married to Captain Andrew MacInnis and has three children.
